Photofractional

IPL Photofractional™ treatment is a complete skin rejuvenation solution designed to treat uneven pigmentation, age/sun spots, fine lines and improve overall skin appearance. Photofractional™ treatments require minimal downtime, so patients can return to their everyday lifestyle immediately following treatment.

The Lumenis M22 skin rejuvenation device combines two treatment solutions, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and ResurFX™ Lumenis M22 skin rejuvenation devicenonablative skin resurfacing, to simultaneously treat skin tone and texture.

How does it work?

By combining both IPL and fractional treatment, both skin pigmentation and fine lines can be improved during the same treatment session. Lumenis® IPL technology removes lightens the appearance of unwanted pigmentation and blood vessels from the skin, while the ResurFX™ fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastic fibers in the deeper layers of the skin to promote tighter youthful looking skin.

The treatment

To ensure patient comfort, your esthetician will apply a topical numbing cream before treatment. Depending on your IPL Photofractionaltreatment plan, you can expect the session to last 15-30 minutes. You may experience a warm or prickling sensation as the laser is applied to the skin, but with numbing cream, you should not have much discomfort.

What should I expect with IPL Photofractional Treatment?

Following the first session, you should begin to notice improvement in skin tone and pigmentation. Typically, about 3 sessions are needed before improvement in the skin texture and fine lines is visible. Optimal results are achieved after 3-5 sessions separated by 2-6 weeks intervals. You will, however, continue to see improvements for up to six months following the IPL photofractional treatment.

What can I expect after treatment?

Immediately following treatment, patients typically experience some redness or swelling, depending on their customized treatment settings. The swelling should diminish after a few hours and the redness will fade over the next day or next few days. Most patients are able to resume their daily activities the very same day. We advise patients to stay out of direct sun for a few days following the treatment and apply sun screen daily.
